Education Department Día de los Muertos Celebration Thurs. Oct. 30, 5-6:30PM

Dear Education Community,

We invite you to join us in honoring and remembering our ancestors with coffee, pan de muerto, and a shared ofrenda/altar as part of our annual Día de los Muertos celebration.

Día de los Muertos Education Department 2025 Celebration

Date and time: Thursday October 30th 2025, 5-6:30 pm

Location: Breezeway, McHenry Library

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a deeply rooted tradition celebrated across Mexico and many parts of Latin America. It is a time to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away, recognizing that death is a part of life. Families often create ofrendas (altars) adorned with flowers, letters, candles, food, and photos of the deceased to celebrate their memory and keep their spirits alive.

We invite you to contribute to our ofrenda/altar by bringing pictures, flowers, fruit, or other meaningful offerings to share in this beautiful tradition. Everyone is welcome, whether you want to bring something to place on the altar or simply join us in this communal remembrance. The altar will be displayed between Sunday Oct. 26- Monday Nov. 3. And if you bring an item, we kindly ask that you please pick it up by Nov. 3.

We look forward to celebrating this beautiful tradition!
