MA thesis: Aligning K-12 and higher education: Using an intersectional approach to identify student preparation factors present upon college entry

Biography, Education and Training

Edgar is a PhD student in the Education Department and holds a MA in Education from UCSC. He is currently employed by UCSC's College Scolars Program (CSP) as a researcher.

Employment highlights while at UCSC include work with the Science Education & Mentorship In Latino Lives in Academia (SEMILLA) grant under UCSC's Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives umbrella as a data analyst and internal evaluator. Design and instruction of LALS 15: Truth, Justice, and Statistics. In addition, employment by SJSU's Counselor Education MA program as an instructor for the EDCO 221: Research in Counselor Education course.

Edgar also holds a MA in Counseling & Student Personnel from SJSU where he worked as a researcher for the federally funded GEAR UP grant, an instructor for EOP, an assistant residential life coordinator for University Housing Services, and a graduate student assistant for the Athletics Department.

Edgar recieved his BA in Women’s Studies with a concentration in LGBT Studies and a minor in Education from UCLA.
